Toen Ren\u00e9 hoorde dat ik strips maakte, vertelde hij me dat hij naast zanger, acteur, ook schrijver was en graag eens een prentenboek wilde maken, wat zich afspeelde rond 1900. Al snel werd het een stripboek, maar dan niet een gewone ballonstrip. Dat zou gebeuren bij uitgeverij Clich\u00e9. We wilden graag ook voorgepubliceerd worden, zodat het publiek ons in ieder geval zou kennen. Ook hier bleven we dichter bij huis en benaderden we de Mooi Boxtel Krant, want daar liep het verhaal rondom de gele gevederde vriend op zijn eind en was het tijd voor iets nieuws.
